“A very enterprising editor” Jacqueline Wilson

Hi! I’m Emily, an award-winning writer, editor and podcast producer.

I began tinkering with text at the age of 12, when I founded my school’s first (and only) library newsletter. I wrote the whole thing and reached out to leading children’s authors of the time for interviews and competition prizes. That’s how I came to receive a lovely letter from Jacqueline Wilson and a phone call from Anne Fine.

From then on, a writing and editing career was always the goal.

In the decades since, I’ve been fortunate to make a living from working with words. Initially, that was as a detail-devoted staff sub-editor on national magazines and websites beloved by teens, global travellers, foodies and fitness fans.

Post-journalism, I honed my brand storytelling skills at an influential creative agency, becoming the trusted voice of everything from cordial to cashew butter, rice cakes to ready meals. Then I met my first charity client and it was love at first type.

These days, I specialise in copywriting, editing and strategising for the third sector, having spent 6+ years creating hard-working written, audio and video content at the UK’s leading end of life charity.

I’m keen to continue working for the good guys, whether that’s a charity, sustainable brand or similar forward-thinking force for good. I write and edit thumb-stopping words that inspire action and advocacy. If I can help your organisation tell the stories that matter, please don’t hesitate to drop me a line.
